What will you learn?

During our Basic Training Workshop – which consist of two days – you will learn BioNumerics’ main features and how it works from a beginner’s point of view. By the end of the workshop you should have a good overview of all the possibilities BioNumerics has to offer through numerous hands-on demos and exercises. You will get an introduction in the preprocessing and analysis of various kinds of molecular typing methods, including fingerprints as well as sequence or pattern-based techniques such as MLST, VNTR (MLVA), spa typing, etc. Next to traditional typing, this workshop also covers the basic principles of BioNumerics’ NGS analysis, including de novo assembly, mapping, whole genome MLST and SNP analysis.

Analysis day

Optionally, you can register for an extra Analysis Day where you can bring your own data and work with our specialized staff on your individual analysis requirements.

Practical information

The Basic Training Workshop consists of two days and will begin on Monday afternoon at 1pm and runs until 5pm, with a coffee break in between. A complimentary “networking” dinner is offered to all participants on Monday evening. On Tuesday morning the sessions start at 9am and end at 4pm, with coffee breaks and lunch in between. On Wednesday morning the sessions start again at 9am and end at 12am, with a coffee break and lunch afterwards included. Workshop Notes are offered free of charge and include color-printed hand-outs of all the lectures and tutorials of the hands-on demonstrations and exercises. The Analysis Day on Wednesday starts at 1pm until 5pm.

The number of participants to the workshop is limited to 18. A maximum of 8 participants can be accommodated during the Analysis Day to ensure a high standard of quality and efficiency. In case the workshop is fully booked, the date of registration together with prepayment will be decisive. Applied Maths NV reserves the right to cancel this workshop up to one month before the scheduled date in case of insufficient registrations.

Registration fee

The registration for the general two-days Workshop, including 2 lunches and one evening dinner is 995 Euro (excl. VAT*). The cost for the Analysis Day on Friday is 345 Euro (excl. VAT*).

Venue

The Workshop and Analysis day will be held at the "Communication Loft" in Ghent (Sint-Denijslaan 485, Ghent). We will take you from the hotel to the workshop venue and back.

Hotel

Rooms can be booked at the Best Western Hotel Chamade, at a special rate exclusively to workshop participants. The room rate is 103.50 Euro (incl. taxes) for a single room and 119 Euro (incl. taxes) for a double room, including breakfast and wireless internet in the room. In addition, a city tax of 3 Euro will be charged per person per night. The hotel is located at less than 10 minutes walking from the railway station.
