Next Generation Sequencing Workshop

This workshop is part of a series of thematic workshops on the use of BioNumerics for specific biological applications. The participants to the Next-Generation Sequencing Workshop get a good overview of all the possibilities of the BioNumerics software package for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) through numerous hands-on demos and exercises. The main topics that will be covered in this training course include:

  • Import of NGS data as sequence read sets, including data validation and pre-processing.
  • Mapping of reads against a reference genome, followed by SNP analysis.
  • de novo assembly, followed by an annotation of the assembled genome.
  • Gene-by-gene systems as an extension of MLST (i.e. whole genome MLST).

The Workshop Notes include color-printed hand-outs of all the lectures and tutorials of the demonstrations and exercises.

Workshop hours are 9am to 5pm on Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Friday. Lunch is included.

The workshop will be held in Austin, TX at the Aloft hotel in the Domain. The registration cost per person for this thematic workshop, including 2 lunches and one evening dinner is 850 USD.

Customers as well as non-customers who are interested in learning more about the analysis of NGS data using our software are invited to attend this workshop. A basic knowledge of the BioNumerics software or familiarity with the applications covered is presumed. For a more general introduction to the use of BioNumerics, we refer to our Basic Workshops, which are organized several times per year.

To guarantee the quality and efficiency of the workshop, the maximum number of participants is limited to 12. In case the workshop is fully booked, the date of registration together with prepayment will be decisive.
