Next-Generation Sequencing Workshop

This workshop is part of a series of thematic workshops on the use of BioNumerics for specific biological applications. The participants to the Next-Generation Sequencing Workshop get a good overview of all the possibilities of the BioNumerics software package for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) through numerous hands-on demos and exercises. The main topics that will be covered in this training course include:

  • Import of NGS data as sequence read sets, including data validation and pre-processing.
  • Mapping of reads against a reference genome, followed by SNP analysis.
  • de novo assembly, followed by an annotation of the assembled genome.
  • Whole genome MLST (wgMLST), i.e. gene-by-gene systems as an extension of conventional MLST.

The Workshop Notes include color-printed hand-outs of all the lectures and tutorials of the demonstrations and exercises.

Workshop hours are 9am to 5pm on Monday and 9am to 4pm on Tuesday. Lunch is included at 13:00h.
