47th Basic Training Workshop on BioNumerics and GelCompar II
8, 9 and 10 September 2008, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium 
The Basic Training Workshop focuses on the main features and the basic use of the software packages GelCompar II and BioNumerics. The participants get a good overview of all the possibilities of the GelCompar II and BioNumerics software packages through numerous hands-on demos and exercises. Special attention is given to the preprocessing and analysis of various kinds of electrophoresis fingerprints from gels and sequencers, as well as sequence or pattern-based techniques such as MLST, VNTR (MLVA), spa typing, etc. The Workshop Notes include color-printed hand-outs of all the lectures and tutorials of the hands-on demonstrations and exercises.The general workshop is two days on Monday and Tuesday. Optionally, you can register for an extra Analysis day on Wednesday to work with specialized staff from Applied Maths on your own data and analysis requirements. The workshop will be held in our training room in the Applied Maths facility in Sint-Martens-Latem, a quaint rural village at only 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the historical city center of Ghent. The registration cost per person for the general two-days workshop, including 2 lunches and one evening dinner is 720 Euro. The cost for the Analysis day on Wednesday is 360 Euro. Applied Maths can make hotel reservations (NH Hotel, Gent). The room rate is 90 Euro for a single room and 107 Euro for a double room, including breakfast. The hotel is located at less then 10 minutes walking from the railway station. Bus transport from the hotel to the workshop facility and back is provided by Applied Maths. Customers as well as non-customers who are interested in learning more about our software are invited to attend this workshop. The number of participants is limited to 24 for the general workshop. To guarantee the quality and efficiency of the specialist workshop, a maximum of 12 participants can be accomodated on Wednesday. In case the workshops are fully booked, the date of registration together with prepayment will be decisive.
