Algal Microbiome: Friends and Foes (ALFF)

ALFF project
Coordinator:
Dr. Claire Gachon (The Scottish Association for Marine Science)
Project duration:
01 Jan 2015 to 31 Dec 2018

Aim of the project:

  • The identification, classification and utilization of algal symbionts and pathogens.
  • A closer look on inter- and intra-species signalling and chemical ecology in different natural and artificial environments.
  • Utilization of state-of-the-art methods in genomics, biochemistry and molecular biology to characterize these interactions.

Main objectives:

  1. Development of a software tool to analyze and store multidimensional (temporal and spatial resolved) metagenomics data with the capability to report sequences that lack sufficient match with publicly available sequences.
  2. Implementation of this tool into the BioNumerics software.
