BIONUMERICS phasing out

bioMérieux strives to continually provide the highest level of quality of its products, services and support to each customer. BIONUMERICS® was first launched in summer 1998 to support PFGE typing. With the evolution of sequencing technologies, the size of data generated and the required analyses, the BIONUMERICS® solution will eventually be unable to adapt to the changing needs of our customers.

For this reason, we are announcing the upcoming release, BIONUMERICS® 8.1, as the latest update and the final  version of BIONUMERICS®. Consequently, BIONUMERICS® will no longer be supported after December 31, 2024.

BIONUMERICS® 8.1 will be released by the end of 2021, bringing up new features such as:

  • An easy export of trees and metadata to iTOL (https://itol.embl.de/)
  • A new genome comparison tool using Minhashing-based clustering
  • A powerful and versatile custom genotyping plugin
  • The return of the Geographical mapping tool, adapted to the Chromium web browser embedded in BIONUMERICS®

bioMérieux will continue to fully support the current BIONUMERICS® solution and customers through December 2024.  Per their licensing agreement, BIONUMERICS® customers will be free to continue using the most recent version of BIONUMERICS® client software after this date, though they will no longer receive product revisions or support for the solution.  Owners of perpetual licenses will keep the full usage of the software beyond this date, except for all functionalities linked with the Cloud Calculation Engine that will be disabled after December 31st 2024.

New customers will be able to purchase a new BIONUMERICS® license until December 2021.

Software licenses with version prior to BIONUMERICS® 8.0 (e.g., version 5, 6 or 7) will be able to upgrade to the latest version of BIONUMERICS® until December 2022, together with a 2-year support and maintenance contract.

Cloud Calculation Engine credits can still be purchased until December 2023, but can only be used until December 2024.
