Gel image is not correctly displayed in the Processing window

Question:

I am able to import my gel image in the database, but the image is not correctly displayed in the Raw data step in the Gel processing window. What could be wrong?

Answer:

When a gel image is not correctly displayed in the Gel processing window (e.g. a completely white or black image) this is most likely caused by the wrong OD range that is specified. In the Gel processing window select Edit > Edit settings, select the "Raw data" tab and change the OD range (256 = 8 bit, 4096 = 12 bit, ...). Decrease the OD range when the image is too white; increase the OD range when you see an image that is too dark (reversed if the option Inverted values is checked). If you wish to apply the new OD range to all gels you will process, you can change the OD range in the Fingerprint type window: double-click on the Fingerprint type experiment in the Experiment types panel in the Main window, select Settings > General settings and change the OD range in the "Raw data" tab.
