Error during conversion

Question: 
When I open an older BioNumerics database in version 7.x, the error message “Error during conversion: Failed to start external process” appears and the database doesn't open. What could be the problem?
Answer: 
To upgrade a database to the version 7.x format, BioNumerics runs a separate executable named conversion.exe. Some antivirus software considers this as “suspicious behavior” and blocks the conversion.exe program. By making an exception for this executable or by temporarily switching off the antivirus software, the database can be successfully upgraded.
