Management team
Luc Vauterin, Ph.D.CEO Luc has worked for 10 years as a doctoral and post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Microbiology of the Ghent University (Belgium) from 1987 to 1997. Inspired by his own extensive studies on microbial biodiversity and the resulting need for integrative data analysis software, he co-founded Applied Maths in 1994. Luc earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Ghent in 1995. He has been Managing Director of Applied Maths since its inception. 
Paul Vauterin, Ph.D.Director of Software Development Paul studied physics and earned a Ph.D. in theoretical Astrophysics at the Ghent University (Belgium). He became interested in numerical algorithms for bioinformatics applications, and co-founded Applied Maths in 1994. He has been the driving force behind the innovative tools and algorithms in the Applied Maths software products.
Bruno Pot, Ph.D.Director of Business Development Bruno started an academic career in 1983 as microbial taxonomist at the Laboratory of Microbiology in Gent, where he obtained a Ph.D. in Biology. During this period he was involved in many EU research projects and developed a particular interest in bioinformatics. After 14 years in research he became Science Manager Benelux and Science Manager Europe for the company Yakult, a Japanese food producer. In 2001 he joined Applied Maths as Director Business Development. In parallel Bruno is also Research Director of the lab 'Bactéries Lactiques et Immunité des Muqueuses' at the Institut Pasteur de Lille (France) and is a guest professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) for courses in Food Microbiology.
Lysiane Hauben, Ph.D.Director of Sales and Marketing Lysiane has performed research on microbial diversity and PCR detection techniques at the Ghent University (Belgium) and at the Gesellschaft für Biotechnologische Forschung, Braunschweig, Germany. She earned a Ph.D. in Biotechnology at the Laboratory of Microbiology of the University of Ghent in 1999 and joined Applied Maths as Sales and Marketing Manager in the same year.
Lemuel del RosarioDirector of North America Operations Lem is Director of North America Operations of Applied Maths and is responsible for driving Applied Maths' operations across the United States and Canada. Lem joined Applied Maths in 2000 at the establishment of the U.S. office located in Austin, Texas. Lem has broad experience in infectious disease molecular epidemiology gained from his previous position as a Senior Microbiologist at the Texas Department of Health. Lem holds a Master of Business Administration degree from St. Edward's University and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin.
