Import tools
Import database entries from XML (Database Sharing Tools only)
From XML files created by BioNumerics, you can import the entries with their experiment data and information fields into the database. The files are exported to a subdirectory Export of the current database. The script offers the following options: (1) to create new fields if required; (2) to create new experiment types if required; (3) to overwrite experimtent settings when the experiments already exist; (4) to create new entries if required; (5) to overwrite already existing entries with the same keys; and (6) to overwrite existing fingerprint (gel) files with the same name.
See also Export database entries to XML under Export tools.
Import characters and database fields from text files
General script to import character data as well as information fields from table-formatted text files.
Import characters (ODBC)
Characters are imported from an ODBC source.
Import database fields (ODBC)
Database fields are imported from an ODBC source.
Import sequences from file(s)
Sequences are imported from files in GenBank, EMBL or FASTA format.
Import ABI GeneScan tables
Tool to import ABI GeneScan tables. Files to import should be in text format.
Before running this script, make sure a reference system is present. To create one, see Import of molecular size table as fingerprint type in the manual.
The script first prompts you to select the GeneScan file to import. In the next dialog box, select the corresponding fingerprint type. Since artificial densitometric curves are created, the script needs to know a resolution for the curves as well as a width for the Gaussian band shapes. Indicate the curve resolution and the band width in the input fields. Press OK to import the GeneScan file as a gel file of indicated the fingerprint type.
