BioNumerics Server Version 4.6 with enhanced 256-bit security

New features of BioNumerics Server version 4.6

Up till version 4.0, BioNumerics Server uses a One time pad (OTP) cipher and does not apply any password strength or expiry checks. In version 4.6, the program can optionally use a stronger security management for the TCP/IP based data exchange. In the enhanced security mode, the program uses the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) applying a 256-bit key length. Furthermore, the user can optionally force the program to test the quality (strength) of the passwords entered. Additional security enhancements include limiting the number of login attempts and setting an expiry date on passwords.

The BioNumerics software upgrade version 4.6 (26 October 2006) is available as a self-extracting Setup file. The upgrade can only be executed when you have a valid license from Applied Maths and a License String which must be entered when the upgrade is run for the first time.

How to upgrade to BioNumerics version 4.6?

1. Request License String
  • This upgrade is free for all customers who have a license for BioNumerics Server version 4.0. You can obtain your License String by on-line filling in the License String request form.
  • If you purchased an earlier version of BioNumerics Server than 3.x without upgrading up to now, you will need to upgrade your license to version 4.x before you can install version 4.6. Please contact us for a quote.

2. Download latest upgrade
3. Install the upgrade
Once you have set up the upgrade on your computer, it will ask you to enter a License String when you run the software for the first time. Your protection key (dongle) together with the License String authenticates your license.
